financial aid & scholarshipsFinancial AidStudent Services can assist students in applying for state and federal aid programs. State and Federal governments, PWSCC, and many private organizations offer grants, scholarships, loans, and employment opportunities to students who demonstrate need for such assistance. Each student’s financial situation is carefully assessed, taking into consideration family size, assets, income, debts, and estimated costs of attending college. Types and amount of financial aid vary according to State and Federal guidelines, student’s needs, and availability of funds. Application ProceduresInterested students should contact the Office of Student Services for information and applications. Students should submit applications at least 6 months before the beginning of the semester for which they are applying. For the upcoming fall semester, the Office of Student Services should have received completed applications and required additional forms by June 1st at the latest. Applications received after this date will be considered if funds are available. Specific procedures are as follows:

Federal VerificationThe U.S. Department of Education selects 33% of financial aid applications for the verification process. The Office of Student Financial Aid at UAA verifies information on selected applications prior to students receiving financial aid awards. Copies of the following documents may be requested:
