The PWSCC Drama Department is holding auditions for the modern comedy classic La Bête on Sunday, September 21, at 4:30, and Monday, September 22, at 6:30. Auditions will be held in the Sugarloaf Learning Hall at the college. The production is directed by theatre instructor Dawson Moore. The play has ten roles of various size and gender, and auditions are open to the community, ages 15 and up.
The play is set in France, 1654. Renowned theatre director Elomire is furious because the troupe’s patron, Prince Conti, is forcing him to include an obnoxious street performer in his company, someone for whom Elomire can barely withhold his contempt. The script won the 1992 Olivier Award for best comedy of the year, and is broadly farcical.
Auditions will consist of readings from the script. Those interested in reading the play prior to auditions can pick up a copy of the script from the Assistant to the President’s office at the college during normal business hours. For more information, call Dawson Moore at 907-834-1614.
