Valdez and Cordova have seen many challenges in recent weeks due to record snowfall. The Valdez campus was closed January 12th and 13th because snow loads exceeded roof weight limits and posed obvious safety hazards for building occupants. With Facilities Staff working countless hours to mitigate the roof load, the campus is expected to reopen on Tuesday, January 17th. Most classes will begin one week later than originally scheduled, on Monday, January 23rd. However, distance-delivered courses may begin on the originally-scheduled January 17th start date, and students in these classes are encouraged to consult their Blackboard sites and instructors for updates. New Student Orientation will be held Friday, January 27th. All registration and payment deadlines will also be pushed back one week, as well as Finals Week at the end of the semester. Spring Break and Graduation dates will remain the same. Student Services will be open to assist students with Advising and Financial Aid as soon as the college reopens, so it may not be too late to add another class or two!
