Here in the PWSCC ABE/Adult Learning Center of the Copper Basin campus you will find friendly, competent people who want to see you succeed. Our goal is to help you further your education and develop the skills that are necessary to take that next step of advancement in your life. Whether it be educational gains, interview and work skills, life skills such as managing your personal finances or creating a personalized literacy program for your family, or just learning for your own personal satisfaction, we have the tools to help you get where you want to go!

One of the components of the PWSCC ABE/Adult Learning Center is to teach life management skills. These include personal banking and budgeting, computer skills, household management skills, and effective resume preparation, interviewing techniques and job competency.  Computers are available for personal use and Internet access.

Another component of the ABE/Adult Learning Center is the General Educational Development (GED) department. The GED department’s goal is to provide services to individuals who want to obtain the high school equivalency diploma. While the GED diploma has been called by some, the ‘good enough diploma’, it really does show employers or colleges that you have acquired the same academic skills as any general education, high school graduate. The diploma is acknowledged by business and industry, civil service commissions, licensing bureaus and many other institutions--including PWSCC.  Did you know that passing the GED tests will put you in the top 20% of high school graduates?

We also offer tutoring to those whose primary language is not English. ESL (English as a second language) courses help individuals develop better oral and written understanding and usage of the English language. Additionally, classes are available for those working toward US citizenship.

The best things about all of these services are that they are offered to everyone, and are confidential and free of charge. Materials and tutoring are also free. Unlike typical school hours, you can come in when it’s convenient for you. ABE hours are usually Mon.-Wed., 10:00am - 5:00pm, Thurs. 10:00am-7:00pm, and Fri. 10:00am -4:00pm. If these times aren’t suitable for you, or if you have transportation problems, call us, and we will make arrangements that work!

When you put forth the effort to achieve a goal, new doors will open for you and you will have a renewed sense of self worth!

If you have any question please feel free to contact us. We hope to see you or hear from you soon!
