accuplacer placement testingThe ACCUPLACER computerized placement tests cover reading and sentence skills, elementary algebra and college level math. The purpose in testing students is to determine the level of skill at which the student is working, then to place the student in the appropriate course. Tests are not timed and are administered by Student Services Monday thru Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The fee is $10. Students should bring a Student ID Number or Social Security Number to the test site. An online tutorial is available for those who are not comfortable using a keyboard or mouse. Most questions are multiple-choice. The number of questions on each test ranges from 12 to 25 questions. Each test is “adaptive” meaning the computer automatically determines which question to ask next based on responses to prior questions. Students will be able to see their score when they finish. The student’s advisor will use a Placement Guide to determine the course for which the student should register. Please notify Student Services if you are in need of special accommodations in order to take this test. For additional information please call or come by Student Services, 907-834-1645.
