Associate of Arts (General Studies), AA
Available in Classroom and by Distance Delivery
The Associate of Arts Degree is designed to provide a well-rounded liberal arts education, designed to transfer to any accredited college for further study, or to enter the workforce with a broad-based knowledge and critical-thinking skills that can be applied to any career. Associate of Arts Degrees are accepted at most 4-year universities as meeting the first two years of study in a bachelor’s degree program. The degree provides the foundational knowledge required of most major fields of study, and specifically prepares students for Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degree programs, as well as degrees in Education. Students intending to transfer to a baccalaureate degree program should check the requirements for that program as some special general education and lower-division classes are required. A minimum of 60 semester credits at the 100 level or above and a GPA of 2.0 or higher, including 20 credits at the 200 level or higher, must be completed to earn the A.A. degree. Of the 60 credits, 42 must be completed in the appropriate areas of the General Education Requirements.
