Phi Theta Kappa Honored

March 9, 2012

The Alpha Psi Gamma chapter of Phi Theta Kappa represented our state well at the Spring Conference in Tacoma, Washington.  Diane Hawkins was elected as the Vice President for Region IV (Alaska) and will be attending the International Convention in Nashville, Tennessee, in April with Kerra Apolo, our chapter vice president, and advisor Chris Washko.

Alpha Psi Gamma achieved its chapter goal and earned the Five Star Level.  This award is based on a series of projects that involve both scholarship and service.  The results of the chapter’s activities for 2011 were reported to the International headquarters; subsequently, they are scored and each region ranks their chapters accordingly.  In competition with 56 other chapters, Alpha Psi Gamma received the following regional awards:

3rd Place as Distinguished Chapter

3rd Place for Honors in Action Project (“Where Do You Wear”)

PTK March 2012 Awards

The chapter is now preparing for two orientation meetings for prospective new members: 3:00 pm on March 21 and March 23.  Students will receive their invitations this week and are encouraged to attend one of these orientations in order to find out what Phi Theta Kappa can do for them and what they can also do for Phi Theta Kappa if they are looking for a way to enhance both their scholarship and civic engagement.

For more information, contact either of the co-advisors: Chris Washko or Gail Renardson.
